Booking FAQs

How do I book a class?
Simply get in touch with our friendly admin team, either by emailing classes@rhl.org.uk or by calling 01252 957 430. Our staff will check availability in your chosen class and send you a health questionnaire to complete. We’ll then agree a date for you to trial your class. We’ll check-in with you after your trial to make sure the class you attended is the right session for you.

What classes do you offer?
Please click here to view our timetables.
We run a wide range of weekly face-to-face and online sessions across various different exercise mediums. In addition to sessions such as Pilates, we also offer specialist Cardiac Phase IV and Pulmonary Rehabilitation classes for adults with lung / heart conditions.
If you struggle with balance or getting up and down from the floor then you may like to consider our seated exercise options.

Which class queries

Who can attend RHL exercise & rehab classes?
We run a wide range of specialist exercise & rehab classes. Many of our sessions are particularly suitable for:

those with long-term health conditions

those recovering from illness / injury

those of a more ‘mature’ age

those who would like to get back into exercise

However, if you don’t fall into one of the above groups please do still get in touch as we may have classes that would suit you. For example, our evening Pilates sessions are very popular and may be of interest.

Which class would be best for me?
Please get in touch to discuss your class choice with our friendly team. You are welcome to try out a class for free to make sure it’s the correct one for you. We have a wide range of different classes, different tutors and different groups so we are confident that you’ll be able to find one that works well for you.

I am a beginner; will I be able to keep up?
Our many classes and wide range of ability levels across our sessions mean that you’ll easily be able to find a class that works for you. Many of our classes are perfect for beginners. All our tutors are really welcoming and will work with you to ensure that you can work at the level that is right for you.

I saw that you have seated classes, will I still be able to benefit if I am not able to stand to exercise?
One of our members recently told us about her experience in one of our seated classe….: ‘It has enabled me to realise that exercise comes in many forms and being unable to jump about does not mean you cannot still exercise whilst seated … I enjoy coming.’

Equipment & getting there FAQs

What should I wear?
Please simply wear something that you will find comfortable to exercise in. Leggings, gym wear or simply loose trousers along with a t-shirt would be perfect. Avoid jeans or a skirt. Footwear will depend on your chosen class. Some classes are carried out in bare feet. Others may simply require sturdy shoes, whilst others will require trainers for safety reasons.

What should I bring to the class?
Once you’ve booked onto a class, we’ll let you know what you need. All classes require you to bring a small water bottle. For most other classes any equipment required will be provided. For Pilates classes you’ll need to bring your own mat, however you are welcome to borrow one for your trial session if you don’t already have one at home. For some sessions you may also be asked to bring other equipment such as a small towel. Full details will be provided in your joining instructions or at your trial session.

Is there parking available at the venue?
Most of our classes are at venues that have plenty of parking spaces available. For any with fewer spaces, these are operated on a first-come-first-served. At some classes you may need to walk a short distance. If you have any concerns, please don’t hesitate to get in touch with our friendly team so that we can advise you further and direct you to a suitable class for your needs.

Cost FAQs

How much do your classes cost?
We have tried to keep the cost of our classes as low as possible and believe that the majority of our sessions are significantly below the market rate. Costs vary according to the type of exercise and also in some cases the cost of elements such as the venue. Weekly costs are shown on our timetables – payments are made monthly. You are welcome to try out a class for free to make sure that it is the right one for you.

Do you have any class offers?
We are a registered charity and sometimes are able to offer reduced rates or free sessions as a result of grants that we may have been able to access.
