“...through an approach of skilled facilitation, RHL allow the project participants to take ownership of the direction any project may take, allowing participants to gain confidence, develop skills, and allowing for a number of self-help sustainable community solutions to be explored and achieved, building in a level of sustainability and community legacy beyond any funded period of time.” HCC  2022

RHL is committed to promoting good physical health and mental wellbeing throughout Hampshire, Surrey, Berkshire and beyond. We achieve this by delivering community-based solutions and co-designed services to those suffering health and social inequalities.

By collaborating with health professionals and a wide range of partners, we encourage behavioural change and achieve meaningful outcomes for individuals and communities.

Established in 2002 and registered as a charity in 2004, RHL was founded with the aim of addressing and helping eradicate health and social inequalities across communities. We believe that everyone deserves access to opportunities that help them keep healthy, feel well, enjoy a good quality of life, and live longer.

Service users are at the heart of everything we do and the reason we do it. We firmly believe that most effective solutions to health and social inequalities lie within the community itself. Through education, practical advice, opportunities, healthy living solutions and peer support we empower people to overcome the barriers they face.

Community engagement is the cornerstone of our projects’ success. There is plenty of evidence highlighting the health and social needs of communities. However, it is the communities themselves who can tell us what’s stopping them accessing the help they need.  Our project participants help research, design and then participate in our programmes because they are the best people to tell us their needs, hopes and aspirations.

With over 30,000 annual attendances across our education sessions, practical workshops, exercise & rehabilitation classes and socials, we are making a truly meaningful difference to people’s physical and mental health, enabling them to Live Longer Better.
